Watch out for BanBan! A DJ you shouldn't miss!
His love for music began at the age of 12 when he started Djing at garage parties at his friends houses. In 1995, influenced by the DMC stars Djs Noise, Rock Rader, Tomi and MC Jack, BanBan bought a pair of Technics and a few DMC video tapes and decided he wanted to be a DMC champion. BanBan's professional career began in 1995, playing disco-house at clubs in Curitiba. After a couple of years he decided to team up with friends and started organizing the first Drum'n'Bass nights in Curitiba (South of Brazil). The new concept of music freshed up the nightlife in the city.
Finally, the opportunity to show his talent to the electronic music scene nationalwide came up when he decided to participate in the annual DJ of the year, the biggest amauter competition in the country. But, "unfortunally", the judges put him away declaring he was not an amauter but a professional. BanBan didnt expect to be considered so good by others and that made him not to give up even due to his bad economic situation at that time. His debut in the Elite of Brazil's electronic music scene was in 2000, when he was invited to participate in the Brazil's TOP DJ OF THE YEAR, the most prestigious competition ever for professionals talents.
BanBan just wanted to have fun and haven't expected to become the #2 D&B DJ in the competition. His life completelly changed from that day on, due to this award, BanBan was invited to spin at the biggest outdoor electronic music event held in Brazil, the Peace Parade, where he played for 30.000 people and made crowd go completely wild. He often opens nights for DJ Marky (World's #1 international D&B DJ nominated by Knowledge Magazine UK) when he comes to Curitiba.
