| Melonphunk has now been running since October 1999. The launch night onHalloween of that year was a one off event at Babushka, Brixton, whichproved a massive hit, with queues until closing time. We moved the followingmonth to a bigger venue, The Plug in Brixton, which went on to fill everymonth until we were approached by The Dogstar and moved in September of2000. The night was a huge success for both The Dogstar and Melonphunk. The average numbers through the door were around 450 and right from ourfirst night in September, their bar takings increased noticeably. In March 2001 Melonphunk had the opportunity to do a two month stint at TheSoundshaft, part of legendary London club Heaven, which have resident nightssuch as Bedrock, and now Bugged Out. For the summer 2001 parties,Melonphunk took residency at The Redstar in Camberwell, which finished inAugust, and have regular guest slots at Nylon sharing DJ duties with 16Band King Unique; hosting the Deep Room for U:Funk's at the Imperial Gardens;and hosting the Launch Party for the Playstation II game Silent Hill 2 on the 6th of July in Paris. Resident DJs The Jackal and Dario Marquez are also the residents forMelonphunk's successor night at The Dogstar 'Elevate', and were also summerresidents at the hip Living Room bar in Brixton.
